We're excited to announce a new feature that gives you more control over your daily brain training experience. You can now swap games in your workout and block games you prefer not to see—making every training session perfectly tailored to your preferences.
What's New?
Your daily Lumosity workout is designed to challenge different areas of your brain, but we know that not every game resonates with everyone. That's why we're introducing two powerful customization options:
- Swap Games During Your Workout - Replace any game with another option from the same brain area or explore the full game library
- Block Games You Don't Enjoy - Remove up to 10 games from future workouts so you can focus on the games you love
These preferences sync across all your devices, so whether you're training on web or mobile, your customized experience travels with you.
How to Swap a Game
When you're ready to start a game in your workout, you'll now see a "Swap Game" button on the pregame screen.
Swapping is Easy
Step 1: Once you commence a workout, before clicking Play click "Swap Game" before
A modal will appear with two tabs of game options:
- The first tab shows games from the same training area (e.g., if you're swapping out a Problem Solving game, you'll see other Problem Solving games)
- The "All Games" tab lets you browse the entire Lumosity library
Step 2: Choose Your Replacement
Browse the available games and select the one you'd like to play instead. Games already in today's workout won't appear as options to avoid duplicates.
Step 3: Block This Game (Optional)
Want to make sure this game doesn't appear in future workouts? Check the "Show this game less often" box below the game grid. This adds the game to your personal block list, and our workout algorithm will avoid including it in your future training sessions.
You can block up to 10 games total, giving you plenty of flexibility to curate your perfect training routine.
Step 4: Confirm the Swap
Click the "Replace" button to confirm your choice. The new game will immediately take the place of the original game in your workout, and you can start playing right away.
Managing Your Blocked Games
You have complete control over which games are blocked. You can view and manage your blocked games anytime in your account settings.
Finding Your Blocked Games List
Navigate to Account Settings → Workout Settings → Hidden games
Here you'll see all the games you've chosen to block, displayed with thumbnails and names so you can easily identify them.
Unblocking Games
Changed your mind about a game? Simply click the restore or unblock option next to any game in your blocked list. The game will be immediately reintroduced into your future workout rotations.
All changes sync automatically across web and mobile, so your preferences are always up to date wherever you train.
How Blocking Works with Your Workouts
When you block a game, our workout algorithm will do its best to exclude that game from your daily training sessions. Here's what happens behind the scenes:
First Priority: The algorithm builds your workout using games you haven't blocked, ensuring you get a complete training session across all brain areas.
If Needed: In rare cases where a complete workout can't be generated without using blocked games (for example, if you've blocked many games in a specific brain area), blocked games may still appear to ensure you get a comprehensive training experience.
This "soft blocking" approach gives you control while maintaining the scientific integrity of your brain training program. You'll still exercise all five core cognitive areas—Memory, Attention, Speed, Flexibility, and Problem Solving—even as you personalize your experience.
Why We Built This Feature
We've heard from many of you that you'd like more say in which games appear in your workouts. Some games might feel too challenging, others might not align with your training goals, and some might simply be less engaging to you personally. Your feedback truly matters!
This feature is designed to:
- Increase your enjoyment by focusing on games you find most engaging
- Reduce frustration by removing games that don't work for you
- Give you control over your brain training journey
