Trying to create a new Lumosity account but hitting a wall when entering your email? Don’t worry—here are the most common reasons this might happen, and what you can do to get started.
1. Your email is already linked to an existing account
This is the most common reason. If you’ve ever signed up before (even years ago), our system will recognize the email and block new signups with it.
What to do:
- Head over to the Login page and click Send me a one-time code to login.
- If you receive an email from us with an authentication code, it indicates the email ID is already linked - enter the code to login to your account.

We recommend that you reset your password once you have logged in.
2. You originally signed up using Google, Apple, or Facebook
If you used a social login to create your account, trying to sign up again with your email manually won’t work.
Instead:
- Tap/click on the social icon as applicable in your case.
- Make sure you're using the same login method as before
3. There’s a typo in the email field
Typos, extra spaces, or missing characters can prevent signup from going through.
Here’s what to check:
- Make sure the email is in the correct format:
example@domain.com - Watch for accidental spaces before or after your email address.
- Re-type your email manually rather than copy-pasting.
4. You may not meet the minimum age requirement
To comply with our Terms of Service, Lumosity requires all users to be at least 13 years old. If the birthdate entered during signup doesn’t meet that requirement, you won’t be able to create an account.
5. Browser or device issues
Occasionally, certain settings or extensions in your browser can block the signup form from working properly.
Try this:
- Use a different browser (like Chrome, Firefox, or Safari).
- Open a private/incognito window and try signing up again.
- Temporarily disable browser extensions or VPNs.
